New Varieties of Spring and Winter Barley Permitted in the Year 1997.Peer-reviewed article

V. PSOTA, K. KOSAŘ

In the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic new varieties of spring and winter barley have been registred according to the new law of seed. In the Czech Republic varieties of spring barley SCARLETT and TOLAR with excellent malting quality and varieties of winter barley AGRILO and BABYLONE without malting quality have been permitted. In the Slovak Republic the variety of spring barley TOLAR has been also permitted, but because of reaching essentially worse results in the Slovakia, it has been permitted only as a non-malting variety. In the Slovak Republic the variety of winter barley BABYLONE has been further permitted, at which a malting quality has not been determined.
