Bioengineering characteristics of sulphite liquors. III. Efficiency of antifoams suitable for biomass production.Peer-reviewed article

J. PÁCA, P. KUJAN, V. MATĚJŮ

Several selected types of antifoams were tested with respect to their possible application in the microbial biomass production from natrium- and calcium-bisulphite liquors. Experiments were carried out with the following antifoams: Slovanik T610, Struktol J633, Kontramin 210 and MO 1. The effect of antifoams was appreciated from a comparison of their ability to suppress foam formation, antifoam consumption and changes in volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient. The results demonstrated that the most effective antifoam was Kontramin 210 for both types of bisulphite liquors used.
