Aims & Scope

 

Kvasný Průmysl publishes results focusing on both basic and applied research and practice in the areas of malting, brewing, fermentation and beverage industries (chemistry, biochemistry, bioengineering, microbiology, physiology, technology, engineering, economy, history etc.).

The reviewed articles of Czech and Slovak authors are published in Czech/Slovak and English versions. The reviewed articles of other authors are published in English only.

Part of each issue is devoted to professional organizations’ notices and news important for professional public (information about congresses, seminars, book reviews, personal notices etc.).

The international Board of Editors consists of distinguished scientists and experts from the brewing and beverage industries. All scientific contributions are reviewed.

The journal is indexed in the following databases: Chemical Abstracts, CAB Abstracts, AGRIS, BRI, VITIS, FSTA, Czech Agricultural and Food Bibliography, Czech National Bibliography.

Kvasný Průmysl, together with its predecessor, the journal Kvas, belongs to the oldest professional journals published in the territory of the today’s Czech Republic. The journal Kvas was founded by the Association for Brewing Industry in the Czech Kingdom as early as in 1873 and till 1938 it was also published in German language under the title Der Böhmischer Bierbrauer. The journal was also published after the disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy and establishment of the Czechoslovak Republic. From October 1940 to September 1944, during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, it was published under the title Gambrinus. After the war, the journal Kvas was released in the re-established Czechoslovakia from June 1945 to October 1950 when its publishing was terminated. In 1955, the Ministry of Food Industry started publishing the journal Kvasný Průmysl, which continued in the tradition of the original journal Kvas. From 1968 on, it was published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and from 1972 by the company Pivovary a sladovny (Breweries and Malthouses). Since 1992 Kvasný Průmysl has been published by the Research Institute of Brewing and Malting, Plc as a monthly with double issues in summer and winter.
